.::THE BENEFITS OF PROPRIETARY HARDWARE IN THE CASE OF THE MACINTOSH::.

Introduction

Before you read my paper, it is important to know that my initial intention was to write a "Macintosh vs. PC" paper in defense and support of the PC. My teacher, in order to make the assignment more difficult, told me to instead support the Mac. At the time, I saw very little value in Macs and thought it wouldn't be as enjoyable and that I'd have to overlook a lot of things in order to really defend the Mac. As it turned out, I was wrong.

I chose a topic where Mac was the clear winner - stability. As I researched, I found that the Macintosh did indeed have many smart and attractive qualities lacking in PCs. While I am not a complete convert (the limited software available for Macs is very prohibative for the type of thing I use computers for, and in all honesty Windows XP has fixed a lot of the problems Windows was notorious for), I have come to respect the Macintosh to a much greater extent. I guess my paper was a success, I persuaded myself! Click a link below to read the paper (html version does not include footnotes).
